On September 17, Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood, Boman Irani and Vivan Shah begin their Happy New Year(HNY) ‘Slam’ tour.

Interestingly Madhuri Dixit joins the HNY world tour specially on request from Shah Rukh Khan though she is no part of the HNY cast.

A member of the HNY team spills the beans, “Shah Rukh was keen to broaden the entertainment base for our performances across the US from September 17. We first go to Houston, then New Jersey, Washington DC, Chicago and finally San Jose. Since Madhuri has a fan base in the US Shah Rukh suggested we should have her as part of the entourage.”

When pressed to reveal how much Ms Dixit had charged the team member quipped, “She didn’t come cheap, I can tell you that.”

Apparently Deepika who plays a dancer in Happy New Year would be performing some of her stuff from the film on stage while Madhuri would be performing her numbers from Dil To Paagal Hai and Devdas with Shah Rukh.

Is the age of B'Town catfights over?

0
0

So the latest buzz in B’Town is that one time friends-turned-rivals Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor have indeed regained their old friendship back. The two were spotted bonding together at the screening of Deepika’s forthcoming movie “Finding Fanny”. This made us wonder if the era of catfights in the tinsel town is really over.

Take for example Alia Bhatt and Shraddha Kapoor. The two have complimented each other whenever an opportunity rises. While Alia called up Shraddha to praise her performance in “Ek Villain”, even the latter did the same and congratulated Alia for her recently released viral video “Alia Bhatt – Genius of the Year”.

Like a decade ago we used to hear stories of actresses making snide remarks on their fellow actresses. It was our daily dose of gossip. Back in 2001, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Bipasha Basu had quite a tiff while working on “Ajnabee”. It is said that Bipasha made some nasty comments on Kareena’s outfit and the latter reacted by calling her a “kaali billi”.

Kareena is also said to have a very unfriendly relationship with Ameesha Patel. Apparently, Ameesha’s debut movie “Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai” was first offered to Kareena, but the former landed the role after her refusal. The two are said to have shared cold vibes ever since.

Even Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor gave cold shoulders to each other back in the 1990s. The two were apparently involved in a catfight because of Ajay Devgn.

Another famous catfight was between Sonam Kapoor and Aishawarya Rai Bachchan. The two actresses are the brand ambassador of L’Oreal Paris and it was in 2009 when Sonam said that she will be representing the brand at the prestigious Cannes International Film Festival. But it is said that Aishwarya refused to walk the red carpet with her. And that’s when it all started between them. Sonam even went on record and called Aishwarya “aunty”.

But all this seems to be well now.

After attending the screening of “Finding Fanny”, Sonam was not only spotted having a good chat with Deepika, but also took to Twitter to congratulate the team on their performance. She tweeted, “Just saw finding fanny! What a quirky lovely film! Kudos to the whole cast &a special shout out to @homiadajania @arjunk26 @deepikapadukone.”

Even Deepika took to Twitter to wish Katrina Kaif on her birthday. Their equation with Ranbir Kapoor led to a fall out. But all seems to be good now between them as one of them took the initiative to end the cold war. Deepika wished Katrina on her birthday by posting on the mictoblogging website, “Happy Birthday #Katrina. Lots of love & hope you have the bestest year ever! :-)”

There were also rumours that Deepika and Anushka Sharma were involved in a catfight. It was reported that Anushka slashed her endorsement fee from Rs.4 crore to Rs.3 crore to get a brand which she lost to Deepika. But obviously these were just rumours and Anushka even went on record to say that there is absolutely nothing going on between the two.

Arch rival Madhuri Dixit and Sridevi were also spotted having a gala time when the latter came on the show “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa” to promote her movie “English Vinglish”. It is said that the two dancing divas have had a bit of tiff in the 1980s because of the box-office status. But they put the past behind when Sridevi came to promote their movie, and entertained the audiences with their mesmerising dance performances.

There have reports on some new friendship in B’Town too. Priyanka Chopra and Sonakshi Sinha seemed to be in a pleasant mood when they came for an event. The two divas were spotted hugging each other and chit-chatting at the red carpet. They were seen having a good time even during IIFA 2014.

Even Alia was clicked at an event with Sonam. When Sonam came on chat show “Koffee With Karan”, she said that “Alia should dress her age”. Alia did not react to her comment in a defensive way, and with the photograph it seems all’s well between the two fashionistas.

“Koffee With Karan” reminds me of another budding friendship. Priyanka and Deepika came on the show together and it was clear that the two were bonding well. Deepika even said, “Babe, we should definitely catch up.”

Kareena was also seen enjoying with Sonam at a party recently. The two were clicked with their sisters Rhea Kapoor and Karisma Kapoor.

So somewhere these social networking websites are also providing a platform to mend fences. Moreover, with so many endorsements, appearances and movies lined up, we think these stars don’t get to hangout much unless there is a social event of some sorts.

Do you think that because these stars are making an effort, the era of catfights in B’Town is officially over? Or should we still go by the saying that “nothing is permanent in Bollywood, not even friendship”.

SLAM! The Tour a money generator for SRK?

0
0

SLAM! The Tour is definitely a money spinner for SRK and his company. But the amount of monies involved are quite mind boggling. Reports from insiders suggest that with each city tour in Dubai, London and the USA, this tour will rake in about 1 million USD in revenues (mind you, not profits)! With tickets being sold at high prices and getting sold out fast, the big monies don't come as a surprise.

“SLAM” (Sound, Light, Action and Movie), The Tour will also have performances by SRK’s “Happy New Year” co-stars Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood, Vivaan Shah along with Madhuri Dixit and Malaika Arora Khan. Director Farah Khan will also perform during the tour.

SRK’s “Happy New Year” is said to be made on a budget of Rs.150 crore and SLAM! will have around 11 shows by the stars. If with each of the 11 shows SRK takes home 1 million USD, it will cover 44 percent of the cost of the movie.

Clearly SRK mania has its impact, globally.

SLAM! The Tour will start September 19 at Toyota Center, Houston, then move on to Continental Arena, New Jersey; Air Canada Center, Toronto; Sears Center Arena, Chicago; Pacific National Exhibition, Vancouver; and will conclude September 28 at SAP Center, San Jose, California.
